On April 26, 1986, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant's reactor No. 4 in the Soviet Union (now Ukraine) exploded at 1:23 a.m. during a safety test, causing the worst nuclear disaster in history. The explosion and subsequent fire released massive amounts of radiation, contaminating large areas and causing immediate fatalities, long-term health issues, and creating a restricted exclusion zone.

Wormwood is a prophetic, bitter star mentioned in Revelation 8:10-11, falling from the sky to poison a third of the world's freshwater during the end-times tribulation. It symbolizes divine judgment and, due to its phonetic similarity to "Chornobyl" (Ukrainian for mugwort), is often linked to the 1986 nuclear disaster.

Absinthe is a high-proof, anise-flavored spirit derived primarily from the flowers and leaves of Artemisia absinthium (grand wormwood), green anise, and sweet fennel. Originating as a medicinal elixir in late 18th-century Switzerland, it is distilled with herbs and known for its natural green color—or Green Fairy nickname—derived from chlorophyll.
