The older you get, the lower the odds that having above average IQ becomes useful.
After 40 or so, it really is some morbid sense of obligation that keeps most of us going: career, children, pets, older parents, strange relationships, postcard homes, money we've been afraid all our lives to spend... History is just the presenting of timelines older than our own to foster such obligations, and the only people I know who seem to escape them are major substance abusers. I never had, nor would I want, their problems, but they seem frankly more practical than mine.
The Dude: Do you find them much, these, stolen cars?
Younger Cop:
Sometimes. Wouldn't hold out much hope for the tape deck though.
Older Cop: Or the Creedence.
