Sanctity and Sanctuary
Raise your hand if you've been hurt by
love.
Now, lower it if mercy is a coffee cup legend.
The one constant of the future is not the none of the above answer of nihilism or the inevitable salvation answers of work, technology, cyclicality or armageddon. It is having more answers than questions, more you think you should do than time to just do it, when freedom becomes a recognition of the futility in searching for absolutes, experts, leaders, gods, aliens or even a self with words to describe being alive accurately. Tradition becomes nostalgia. Hope becomes more end than beginning. And facts, paradigms, institutions, intuition, superstition and faith become as overused (cliche) as any other abused substance.
The capex cycle racing to build out hyperscale ai seems the clearest current indicator of this. Marx was insane for being a communist, but brilliant in identifying the risks of a capitalist private property system that legislates protection and accrual of generational wealth and power over the democratizing effects of rising wages. Since enlightenment, technology has become a contest between digital-twin mass surveillance and whatever remains of daily public and market driven will. Media has superseded social connection and is now chief purveyor of social, political and moral paralysis. It's not a bug it's a feature. You spent your whole life waiting to meet your moment but now, like a cat staking out its backyard, the call is coming from inside the house.
